Obituary for Kimberly Finkler (Plato)

FINKLER – Kimberly Jo Finkler, age 47, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend passed away on Sunday, May 12th, 2019 with her family and friends by her side. Kimberly will be greatly missed by her children, Sarah and William Finkler; her future daughter-in-law, Erica Wright; father of her children, Bill Finkler; her father, Charles Plato; her brother, Robert Plato; her nieces, Ashley and Brooke Plato; her aunts and uncles, Sue and George Stickel, Lindy and Melvin Mogg, Vicki Coster, and Charlene Cavender; her many Plato aunts and uncles; her great friend, Charlie De Groot; along with many other countless friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Shelby Larsen, her aunt Jewel Cavender and her cousin, Lorrie Derusha.

Kimberly's loving kindness, generosity and willingness to always help others was her greatest passion. She was always one to be there for anybody and make people laugh. Selflessly giving of herself when her cousin was in need of a kidney, Kimberly's willingness to help extend life continues beyond her passing as she remains an organ donor for those in need. Kimberly loved life and lived it to the fullest. Always up for a new adventure, Kimberly loved traveling, scuba diving and spending time with her kids. She had a love for animals as she would feed the rabbits and neighbors’ cat every morning and beg for her daughter to bring over her dog, Chubs. Kimberly even had a relationship with Charlie’s bird, who doesn’t like most. Kimberly truly looked and cared for everyone as family. She always had an open door for everyone, even a Meijer cashier on Christmas. As you left her house, she would squeeze you in her arms and say “hugs not drugs.” Her closest family will forever live by that motto.

An extraordinary woman whose life—though brief—had great impact on the those who knew her best; Kimberly will be greatly missed and never forgotten. The family will receive family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a celebration of Kimberly's life following at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Father Rock officiating. In memory of Kimberly, please consider memorial contributions to the Kimberly Finkler Foundation through ChoiceOne Bank.

This money will be used to carry on Kim's legacy through generous acts of kindness such as adopting families for Christmas, helping those without homes, and assisting others in need

Rock on Momma.
