Leroy Edward Klein, age 83, of Sparta, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, with his family by his side on Friday, October 15, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Klein and Lois Gilbert; brother, Ronald Klein; and nephew, Chad Kober. Leroy is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Gail Klein; children, David (Julie) Klein, Connie (Dave Nelson) Howe, Steven (Lisa) Klein, Carol (Tim) VanLaan; grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Wilson, Kadie Howe, Lukas Klein, Cole Klein, Madison VanLaan; siblings, Enid (Ed) Pierson, Marvin (Anita) Klein, Roger Klein, Kay (Mike) Kober, Leah (Darwin) Kornowske; and many beloved nieces and nephews. After graduating from Sparta High School, class of 1956, Leroy served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army where he was stationed mainly in Alaska. Leroy was blessed to be a farmer for most of his life and raise his family on the same farm he grew up on. He owned an agricultural tile and drainage business and, although technically retired, still spent much of his time working in the dirt and mud. Leroy will be remembered as a hard worker who never hesitated to drop what he was doing to help someone in need. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends in the gym at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1379 Harding Street, Conklin, on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, with Pastor Mark Oswald.
