Alice Ann Lisquez (Sumner) peacefully fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday, July 17, 2022. Alice was born on Wednesday, February 26, 1941, in Muskegon, MI.
Alice loved to be with friends and family, playing cards, drinking beer, and smoking cigs - especially when she was at the casino knocking it down. She was a lifelong member of VFW #830 Auxiliary and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #47 for 27 years. She loved and supported our veterans with pride. When able to attend, she was also a dedicated member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church. Alice was a character with no filter and had a witty comment for any situation, she was a straight shooter and she called it just like she saw it. Alice will be greatly missed by many. We are grateful that she is now with the Lord and reunited with her loving Dmitri and her precious daughter Deborah.
She is survived by her granddaughters Heather Huizinga and Hayley Andree; great grandchildren Faith Huizinga, Bradlee Huizinga, Daisy Huizinga, and Warren Burgler; sister-in-law Eileen Bennette; brother-BY-law Terry Wenzel; dedicated nephew Timothy Lomashewich who visited her every single day; niece Renee Lance lovingly referred to as her rock; cousin Judy Knill; great niece Taisia Singleton (aka "Precious", who always called Alice, "Doll"), daughter Deidre Slabbekoorn; granddaughters Tiffany Stankewich, and Trinity Slabbekoorn; and many nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Dmitri Lisquez; daughter Deborah Lisquez-Andree; parents, Howard Sumner, Jim & Eva Johnson; brothers Howard (Junior) Sumner, and Harold (Snick) Sumner.
