Obituary

Ana Doonan's love of life didn't come to an end with her death; she lives on through all of those she met. Ana passed away on June 16, 2023 at the age of 48 after a courageous battle with ALS. Since childhood, Ana brought joy and happiness to her family. She was a loving daughter, sister, and friend. She was her fathers' dreamer and had strength of her mother. As a young child, she was smart and studious, encouraging all of her sisters and cousins that education was the way to achieve your life goals. This was a theme she carried as a lifelong pursuit. Ana completed her bachelor's degree at Tecnologico de Monterrey in Venezuela. She went out to pursue higher education in the USA as a way to support both her family back home in Venezuela and her community in the USA, which she also considered home. She completed two masters degrees, MA in political science and an MPA. Ana happily joined her life in holy matrimony with Marc Doonan in Venezuela on December 26, 2009. As partners in life, they moved across the country twice, to pursue her ambitions of helping others. Ana was a humble woman, she worked in community development, fund development, and nonprofit leadership. She was an empathetic leader, an excellent listener, always finding solutions before others even realized that there were problems. She looked forward to every single day, and approached it head on- overcoming all challenges in her path with grace and a take-charge attitude. This was accomplished through her unwavering faith, her devotion to God, and her dreams to make the world a better place for everyone she encountered. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities. She loved a quiet evening in with her husband, family, and friends. She loved to people watch, window shop, and dream. She was a child at heart, playful, and quick to laugh. She was also quick witted and her eyes often told the joke before her mouth spoke the words. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Ana. During her free time, she often explored the local hike and bike trails, enjoying the beautiful world that God created with her husband. Her eyes sparkled in delight every year during the first snow, she would prance around, twirling and "crunching" the snow beneath her feet, until she had to drive in it. Ana lived her life full of courage, never turning away from a challenge, and uplifting others who crossed her path. Ana left her foots in everything she did. She will be loved forever. She lives on through her family and friends who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest, set by her example. Ana was preceded in death by her father, Jose Alfredo Aguilar Angulo. Ana is survived by her husband of almost 15 years, Marc; mother, Felicita Del Carmen Avila De Aguilar; sisters, Nohemi Aguilar Avila, Luz (Michael) McCoy, Maria C. Aguilar Avila, Maria M. Aguilar Avila, Marisol Aguilar Avila, Mayra Aguilar Avila; nephews, Sebastian and Jonah; mother-in-law, Patty Good; sister-in-law, Jennifer Doonan; aunts, Nelly Aguilar Angulo, Dalia Aguilar Angulo (Gustavo Perdomo); uncle, Luis Aguilar Angulo (Dalia Aguilar); many cousins.
