Asahel "Ace" Glen Fairchild, age 84 of Belding, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 22, 2025 under the loving care of family. He was born on August 25, 1940, at the family farm in Lowell, Michigan to Clyde and Irene (Bieri) Fairchild.

Ace grew up in Lowell, attending a small country school. He was very involved in the 4-H program throughout school, where he proudly raised and showed sheep. After graduating from Lowell High School in 1958, he attended Kendall College of Art and Design to study Industrial Arts. During college, he also became involved in the Golden Gloves boxing program.

After college, Ace enjoyed a long and successful career at Frigidaire/Electrolux as an engineer, proudly holding the original patent for the first Frigidaire in-door ice maker. After his retirement from Frigidaire, he went on to work at Rayborn Hardware in Belding in the sporting goods section.

Whether it be on a motorcycle, in a classic car, or on the water, Ace loved to go fast. He spent much of his youth water skiing on Murray Lake, snowmobiling, and street racing. He had a love for fast cars and motorcycles, especially his classic Thunderbird.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Ace loved the outdoors. He enjoyed traveling the country, especially out west. He often shared stories of his elk hunting trips with his dad and their many other adventures to Montana, Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming and his favorite, South Dakota.

Ace is survived by his loving fiancé of 28 years; Sherry Decker, his children; Jan (David) Fisher and Jay Fairchild, his stepchildren; Kristina (Josh) King and Ron (Cassandra) Schnicke, his sister; Judy (Paul) Kropf, his life-long friends; Roy (Barb) Welch, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Clyde and Irene (Bieri) Fairchild, his treasured cat; Boo, and life-long friends Bob and Rita Pratt.

Services for Ace are being held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at the Vergennes Church, 10411 Bailey Dr NE, Lowell, MI 49331 with a visitation beginning one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at the Bailey Cemetery, with a luncheon afterwards.
