Obituary

ABSHIRE - Barry Lee Abshire, age 68, of Comstock Park, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Roe and Laurette Abshire and his son, Ted Abshire. He leaves behind his loving wife, Sally; sons, Lee Abshire and Nate (Beth) Jennings; mother-in-law, Nevie Korte; grandchildren, Caleb, Landen, Avery, Madison, Rylan, Chase, Brogan, ArraBella and Raegan; sisters, Pam DeRuntz, Mary (John) Hadley, and Patty (Terry) Benedict; brothers, Roe (Sandy) Abshire, Gary (Colleen) Armstrong, Doug (Pat) Armstrong, Walt (Amy) Armstrong, and John Armstrong; close friends, Frank Reyburn, Brenda Elerick, Tony Paskewiez, Megan Abshire and many more. Barry served his country in the United States Army, Vietnam era. He was Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 3219, Past Commander of American Legion Post 47, and current Commander of AMVETS Post 23. The family will receive family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 8, 2020. The funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m., with Rev. Fr. Thomas Simons presiding and under the auspice of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard.
