Obituary

Beverly Sue (Sanders) Courtade relished her life. Her mind was taken many years too soon by Alzheimer's, and on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the age of 67, her spirit left this earth to be joyfully reunited with her generous heart, effervescent personality, and memories overflowing with love. She was born October 2, 1958, in Monroe, Oklahoma, to the late Roy and Mary Sanders.

Beverly was a force of nature, and she had an uncanny ability to befriend someone new every time she left the house - she was pulled up on stage to dance with Lou Christie at one concert and Freddy Boom Boom Cannon at another, she got along so well with Star Trek's Nichelle Nichols at Comic-Con that Nichelle asked for her help in putting on a pair of earrings, and she fed anyone who looked like they could use a home-cooked meal.

Beverly loved Jesus and wanted to share that love with all she met. She generously helped those in need, though she never wanted the credit and even told her children not to tell anyone when she stopped to give bags of groceries to strangers asking for help. Her formative years in Oklahoma were filled with cheerleading, powderpuff football, basketball, science club, choral competitions, and lead roles in numerous stage productions.

Beverly was heavily involved in Jenison Public Schools when her children were growing up. She spent countless hours popping popcorn with her best friend Winnie, binding books for student authors, and supporting the kids on the Science Olympiad team. She was a founding member and president of the Jenison Public Education Foundation and served as president of the Jenison Orchestra Parent Association. Beverly also brought Odyssey of the Mind to the district as a way for students to explore creative thinking. She returned to her performing roots in later years by acting in several films from Chuck's Boy productions.

Beverly is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Charles; favorite child, Buster the dog; real children, Joshua Courtade, Angela (Jeff) Westlake, and Catherine (Kyle) Chamberlin; precious grandchildren, Emma, Theo, Max, and Charlie; phenomenal mother-in-law, Betty Courtade; best friend, Winnie Kowalski; special niece, Tina Shepard; brothers, Roy Jr. (Cherry), Ray (Joann), and John (Leigh) Sanders; sister-in-law, Julia (Tim) Daniels; brother-in-law, William (Beth) Courtade; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Teresa (Jerry) Gober and Mary Irene Merkling.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue NW, Comstock Park, MI 49321.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to West Michigan Hospice, Alzheimer's Association, or funds gifted to Chuck will be placed into an education fund for Beverly's grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of West Michigan Hospice for their care and compassion throughout this difficult time which helped keep Beverly at her home.

Think of Beverly every time you dance in the kitchen.
