Obituary

Blythe (Warner) Shirey, age 74, passed away at home surrounded by her family.

Blythe was born to George and Loraine (Hartel) Warner in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She graduated from Kent City High School in 1970 and Grand Valley State College in 1974. After college, she worked as a buyer at Herpolsheimer’s department store in Grand Rapids. She and her husband of 39 years, Mike, resided in Sparta, Michigan, where they raised their two children, Geori and Brent. Blythe devoted her time to others as an active volunteer at school and community events as well as God’s Kitchen, Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, and Ronald McDonald House. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends at her cottage on Hess Lake in Newaygo. She will be remembered as a creative, one-of-a-kind person who leaves a legacy of strength and compassion.

She is survived by her children, Geori (Will) Snyder and Brent (Haleigh) Shirey; two granddaughters, Natalie and Claire Snyder; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Mike; her parents, George and Loraine; and her brother, Brent Warner.

Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue NW, Comstock Park, MI 49321. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. when a funeral service celebrating Blythe’s life will be held with Rev.
