Obituary

MAY, Carl Gerald May was born at home on August 2, 1925 to Charles and Anna (Host) May. He passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 12, 2023. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary; his son, Arnold; his grandson, Eric May; and his granddaughter, Laura Weis. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years Eleanor (Alberts) May; his children, Gordon May, Susan (John) Weis, Judy (Philip) Schwallier, and Amy (Terry) Jost; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. Carl grew up on the family farm in Wright Township and attended St. Joseph's Catholic School. He was the eleventh of twelve children, with five brothers and six sisters. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a factory worker for many years, while running the family dairy farm at the same time. He was a very hard worker and instilled that work ethic in his children. He eventually switched to fruit farming and continued this until his retirement. He was a faithful Catholic and attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church for most of his adult life. He passed his faith in God on to his children and grandchildren. He loved to play cards, especially euchre and cribbage, and he passed on his euchre skills to his children and grandchildren. In his retirement years, he could be found at Schwallier's Country Basket Farm Market, handing out apples and greeting and visiting with customers. People always asked him for advice on what apples to use for pies, eating, etc., and he was always happy to oblige. Carl was always glad to see his family, especially his grandchildren. He was always willing to help others and his family with anything. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1200 Alpine Church Road, Comstock Park, MI. Friends and relatives may meet the family at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Ave., Comstock Park, for visitation on Monday, October 16, 2023, from 5:00-8:00 pm, where a rosary will be prayed at 7:30 pm.
