Carl Thome, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. Carl was a tender-hearted, humble, loving, honorable, family-oriented man and the coolest dad on the planet. Carl served in the U.S. Air Force and Reserves for a total of 11 years. He was a retired carpenter from General Motors. Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Lois Ann in November 2022; in-laws, George Wesorick, Delores and George Dey, Sandy Miller, Carol Thome and Walt Longcore. Carl is survived by his children, Steve (Julie Dykstra) Thome, Chris and Tom Van Dokkumburg, Diane and Rick Godinez, Mary and Jeff Vanderlind; his grandchildren; Ben and Lindy Thome, Jacob and Natalie Thome, Matt and Mandy Keeler, Andy and Jennifer Van Dokkumburg, Ben and Carielle Van Dokkumburg, Kathy and Derek Gray, Monica and Josiah Roberts, Dan and Sarah Godinez, Kurt and Kait Vanderlind, Jon and Amber Vanderlind; his fifteen great-grandchildren; his siblings, Clara Longcore, Marv Thome and Bob Thome; and sister-in-law, Mickey Sprague; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 12:00 pm at Beuschel Funeral Home, 1200 Alpine Ave. NW, Comstock Park, MI. The family will greet visitors two hours prior to the service from 10:00am to 12:00 noon.
