Charles Frederick Steffens, age 92 of Comstock Park, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
Charles was born on July 21, 1930 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of George and Louise (Weber) Steffens.
Charles served in the United States Army during the Korean war from 1951-1953. In October of 1949 Charles met the love of his life. His brother Bob brought two young ladies to a dance, as they were coming down the stairs he saw Frances wearing a purple skirt and lavender blouse, he told his brother I need to meet that girl. July 17th1954 he and Frances were married and began their beautiful story.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Louise and his brothers George (Evelyn) Steffens and Robert (Agnes) Steffens, his in-laws Frank (Helen) Savickas, Sisters in-law Angela (Ted) Pupel, Helen (Walter) Zoppa, brothers in-law Chet (Annie) Savickas, Pete (Betty) Savickas, Joe (Helen) Savickas, Dan Savickas, Frank "Slicker" Savickas.
He is Survived by his wife of 68 years, Frances Steffens; his 8 children Chris (Jim) Sprinkle, Charlie (Dorothy) Steffens, Barb (Ron) Prunty, Joan (Rob) Gardner, Paul Steffens, Julie (Robert) Kolenda, Dan (Nicole) Steffens, and Pat (Steve) Watters; his grandchildren, Jim Sprinkle, Brooke (Victor) Hernandez, Joe (Kristin) Sprinkle, Brandon (Alice) Steffens, Stephanie (Bob) Molesta, Brady (Gabriel) Steffens, Justin Steffens, Kaitlyn Kolenda, Josh Beardsley, Travis Steffens, Kendra Gardner, Jake (Lisa) Medley, Allison Beardsley, Adam Beardsley, Kyle Kolenda, Derek Gardner, Dylan Steffens, Sam Medley, Collin Steffens, and Macy Steffens; his great grandchildren Adrian and Anthony Hernandez, Sammy, Grayson, and Harper Sprinkle, Winston and Beau Steffens, Wyatt, Clayton, and Brandt Steffens Maleah St, Clair, and Caiden Medley. His sister in-laws Susie Savickas, Roberta Savickas and Lorraine Steffens and many nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Charles will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1200 Alpine Church Road, Comstock Park with Rev. Father Chris Rouech officiating.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30am to 11:00am prior to the Mass at church on Friday.
In memory of Charles, memorial contributions may be given to Holy Trinity Catholic Church where Charles was a lifetime member or The Oaks at Belmont Activities fund where my dad had exceptional care and enjoyed activities.
