Clara Louise (Thome) Longcore, age 96, of Comstock Park, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 10, 2025.  She was born July 27, 1929, in Plainfield Township, MI to the late Theodore and Antoinette (Dietrich) Thome.  Clara was a graduate from Catholic Central High School. On May 17, 1952, she married Walter Leroy Longcore at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  Together they celebrated 70 years of marriage before Walt passed away on March 21, 2023.  Clara was guided by her faith throughout her life and was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Comstock Park.  She loved the Lord and made sure to instill that passion and faith into her children and grandchildren. In her younger years Clara worked as a secretary at Haskelite.  When her and Walt started a family they decided Clara would stay home with the children.  Once the youngest started school, Clara went back to work and spent 17 years in various roles with the Kenowa Hills Public School System. Clara and Walt enjoyed traveling and often took trips with Bruce and Margaret Longcore to various places.  She enjoyed going to the casino and spending her Sunday evenings at church playing bingo. Clara was an avid sports fan who particularly loved the Detroit Lions and Detroit Pistons.  Later in life she still enjoyed watching sports and doing jigsaw puzzles and word searches. Survivors include her 5 children, Dave Longcore, Sue (Steve) Huizenga, Mark (Sue) Longcore, Walter Longcore, and Jeanne (Bill) Gorton; daughter-in-law, Beth Longcore; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; brother, Bob Thome; and many nieces, nephews, and members of Walt's family. Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Walt; infant son, Roger; son, Donald Longcore; her parents; brothers, Marv (Carol) and Carl (Lois) Thome; and numerous in-laws and cousins. Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue NW, Comstock Park, MI 49321, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm with a rosary service at 6:30pm.  Visitation will continue on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1200 Alpine Church Rd NW, Comstock Park, MI 49321, from 10:00am until 11:00am.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am at the church with Rev. Chris Rouech officiating.  Clara will be laid to rest next to Walt at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Holy Trinity Catholic Church . The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Edison Christian Life Services and Faith Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion they have shown to Clara and the entire family throughout this difficult time.
