IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Colleen A.
Matzen (Clark)
February 9, 1947 – July 26, 2025
Colleen A. Matzen (Clark) went home to God unexpectedly on the afternoon of Saturday, July 26, at her home in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was 78 years old.
She is survived by her daughter, Roberta, and her two children, Jaimason and Joryan; and by her son, William (Sarah), and his four children: Gabrielle (Eduardo), Anna, Dylan, and Reece. She is also survived by her siblings, Leonard, Shirley and Christine; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elaine (VanDyke) Clark; her siblings, Amy, Mark, Don, and Louise; as well as her dear friend, Mary Cruz.
Colleen was born and raised on her family's farm in Conklin, Michigan, and always considered Sparta home. She spent many years working in customer service locally for Next Door Food Store and later retired from Meijer in Walker, Michigan. In her retirement, she spent several years in Austin, Texas, and leaves behind many loved ones there as well.
She will be greatly missed by her close companion, Lacy Marie—her beloved toy poodle, whom she doted on. Colleen enjoyed baking, sewing, and country music, especially Blake Shelton. She loved family barbecues at her son Bill's, watching her shows with her daughter Roberta, and never turned down coffee with family and friends. A loyal Michigan State University fan, she took great pride in having two granddaughters who are alumni. While she loved the holidays and extended family gatherings, her greatest joy came from time spent with her six grandchildren and was very proud to watch them grow into adulthood.
A devout Catholic, Colleen was a member of St. Anthony's of Padua Parish in Grand Rapids. Visitation will be held there on Thursday, August 7, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass. She will be laid to rest beside her parents at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Conklin. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Beuschel Funeral Home in Comstock Park, Michigan.
In loving memory of Colleen, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's of Padua Parish or Lori's Voice.
