DOUSE - David "Dave" E. Douse, age 86, of Comstock Park, completed his journey on earth and has joined his beloved wife, Barbara in a Heavenly dance on Wednesday, December 27, 2017. As his fellow sailor and nephew said, "The Heavens' Sea has parted and accepted an old Tin Can, a Scrappy, Gruff, Crotchety and Crusty Sailor." Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara. He is survived by his daughters, Laura (Don) Foss and Andrea (Steve) Ingraham; four grandchildren, Mackenzie and Connor Foss, and Cassidy and Reagan Ingraham; sisters, Mary Meyers and Kathleen (Bob) Gibfried; brother, Jim Douse; in-laws, Jim (Kathy) Priest, Mary Beth (Rich) Rutledge, Tim Priest, Fran (Duane) Meister, Angela (Dave) Zbikowski, and several nieces and nephews. Many thanks to his very special friend and caregiver MaryBeth Vernon. Dave proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Des Moines, during the Korean war. His favorite things to do were helping fellow Veterans and spending time with friends at his favorite hang-out, the American Legion Post #47. According to his wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Post #47, 3811 West River Drive N.E., on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 6:30 p.m., under the auspice of Kent County Veterans Honor Guard. In memory of Dave, and in lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the American Legion Post #47. Fair winds and following seas "Dear Dad", you will be missed by many.
