Donna Jean Young, age 78, of Manistee, MI (formerly of Grand Rapids, MI), passed away peacefully on November 23, 2023 after a courageous battle with Cancer. Donna was born in Grand Rapids, MI to Frank and Helen Piasecki. She was a Title 1 Teacher at Greenridge Elementary in Comstock Park, MI, where she was devoted to caring for and enriching the lives of every child that crossed her path. Donna never met a dog that she didn't like, and always had treats on hand for her furry friends at her condo in Manistee. She loved bowling, NASCAR, and road trips, especially when the travel plans included a detour to a casino. Above all else, Donna enjoyed being a doting mother and grandmother. Nothing meant more to her than spending time with her family, friends, and pets. Donna Young was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Helen Piasecki; first husband and father to her children, Norman Nequist; and second husband, love of her life, Robert "Bob" Young. She is survived by her children, Douglas Nequist of Hernando, FL and Deborah (Daniel) Scheiner of Sparta, MI; grandchildren, Kelli (Jeremy) Stellema Of Howard City, MI and Isaak King of Grand Rapids, MI; sister, Ann Marie Kaminski of Grand Rapids, MI; and best friend, Flora Sawyer of Manistee, MI. Donna's family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital in Frankfort for providing exceptional care and companionship to Donna in her final months, particularly her special nurse, Mary.
