Obituary

GORDON - Douglas G. Gordon, age 82, of Comstock Park, went to be with his Lord and Savior after a lengthy illness on Saturday, September 1, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha (Miller) Gordon of Loves Park, Illinois; brother, Joel Gordon; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Mary Jean Devine of Hadley, Massachusetts. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Kathryn; children, Jeffrey (Paula) Gordon of Manistee, Kristine (Gary) Hayes of Bear Lake, Elizabeth Gordon of Naples, Florida; sister, Wilma (Don) Betts of Racine, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Marcella Gordon of Beloit, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Emily Hippensteel, Carmen Hayes, Elijah Hayes, Alecia Hayes, Gwendolyn Hayes; and many nieces and nephews. Doug proudly served his country in the United States Army, including one year of service in Korea. Doug was an account manager with Oscar Mayer for 35 years. Thereafter, Doug began a rewarding career as a realtor, and enjoyed helping people better their lives in becoming homeowners. Doug was a member and past President of Comstock Park Rotary Club who put its motto into action, "Service Above Self". Doug was a strong believer in improving the community through service. Doug served as past President of Northwest Little League as well as past member of the Comstock Park School Board. Thank you to Mercy Health and the Sanctuary of St. Mary's for their kindness and care. The family will greet family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park, on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The celebration of Doug's life will be 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior, on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Beuschel Funeral Home, with Rev. Frank Vietze as celebrant and under the auspice of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard. Inurnment in the Village of Onekama Cemetery 1146 Erdman Rd. Onekama, MI. 49675.
