Ethel Leona Bristol, age 90, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Saturday, October 28, 2023. She was a very special Christian woman, who loved God and her family. Ethel was a foster mother to 39 children between 1960-1971. She was an incredibly talented artist with yarn, which she made into many different things, and also drawing having an eye for color. Ethel sang in her church choir at Alpine Baptist Church for 34 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Bristol Sr.; sons, Edwin Bristol Jr. and James T. Bristol; daughter-in-law, Brenda Bristol; granddaughter, Tonia Jones; second husband, Edwin Gilbert; 2 sisters and 1 brother. Ethel is survived by her daughter, Leona Bristol-Rusco; grandchildren, Ted (Jennifer) Jones, Trevor (Melissa) Jones, James (Ericka) Bristol, Thomas (Whitney) Bristol, Timothy (Paulette) Bristol, Terry (Cassandra) Bristol, Peggy Jo Bristol (Aras); many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; also many very special nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives can gather for a visitation at Alpine Baptist Church, 692 7 Mile Rd NW, Comstock Park, on Thursday, November 2 from 10:00 - 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at Alpine Baptist Church starting at 11:00 am with Pastor Doug Compton officiating. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery.
