Obituary

KAREL - Evan Clare Karel age 49, of Comstock Park. Through faith in Jesus, Evan went to his heavenly home on Thursday, December 22, 2011 after a hard fight with cancer. Evan was born on September 29, 1962. He loved God, his family, his church, and his job at Patten Monument, as an artistic etcher. Evan was an Ojibwe speaker who enjoyed his native American culture and God's creation in nature. He loved hunting, fishing, riding his bike and most of all loved spending time with his precious family. Evan is survived by his loving wife, Terri, daughters, Kelli Ann, Katelin, son, Nate, and by Jerrod Mindykowski whom he loved like a son. Brothers, Donald and Keighly, sister, Beverly Karel, in-laws, Butch and Marlene Brethauer, Brian (Valarie) Brethauer, Holly (Kevin) Baumann, Jerry Brethauer, nieces, nephews, and many other family members. Evan loved his fellow Christ followers who supported him to the end of his earthly life; he especially loved Mary Anne Northcott like a mother, as she loved and cared for him every day. A celebration of Evan's life will be held Saturday, December 31 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, at Family of Christ Lutheran Church, 1100 Henze Street, Comstock Park by Pastor Mark Bowditch. Evan was very special and has faith that people will continue to love God and his family. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you contribute to Family of Christ, to support a nature trail - Evan's own vision and dream - that will be built on the church property in the spring.
