BURDICK - FREDERICK "Fred" T. Burdick, age 92, of Marne, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015. He was surrounded by his family and went peacefully into God's arms. Fred was born on January 11, 1923 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Gertrude Burdick; brother, Bernard (Dorothy) Burdick; sister, Virginia (Boyd) Gleason. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Frances Ann; daughter, Colleen (Mike) Patterson; sons, Michael (Nancy) Burdick and Fred "Tom" (Patti) Burdick; grandchildren, Jennifer (Dave) Burghart, John Allen, Erin (Bo) Bloom, Shanna (Josh) Schneider, Megan (Jake) Byrne, Kelly (Gary Shaut) Burdick and Michael (Caren) Burdick; great grandchildren, Asleigh Hopkins, Helen Brown, Laura and Cliff Rucks, Teresa Stillman, T.J. (Ashleigh) Stillman and Tiffany Stillman; great great grandchildren, Christian Hopkins, Nathan Hopkins, Madison Castle, Ingrid and Robbie Rucks, Robert (Andrew) Harshman, Ethan Stillman, Blair Schneider and Taylor Schneider. Fred was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army, as a Staff Sargent and was deployed to Guam. He was employed with Brunswick for 30 years plus as a General Manager. Fred was very active in the following: Marne American Legion Post #376 as a lifetime member, one of the founder's of the Marne Conversation Club, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4404, Coopersville VFW Post #5598, served on the Berlin Fair Board, a member of the Kenowa Hills Public School Board, (he was very instrumental in initiating the combining of the old Berlin High School to join the Kenowa Hills Public School System), and he was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Mary's Church in Marne for 60 years plus. He also provided farmland to start the Burdick Beef Farm. Fred's smile, kisses and his shenanigans will be missed. His favorite quotes, "Bears R Bears" and "USA ALL THE WAY!!!!" We love you Grandpa and miss you already. The family will receive family and friends at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park, on Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, October 5, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marne at 11:00 a.m., with Father Anton Tran, officiating, visitation one hour prior with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m., with Al TenEyck, Pastoral Associate, at the Church.
