MOWERY-Mr. Frederick C. Mowery, age 82 of Comstock Park, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021. He was born on December 19, 1938, in Grand Rapids, MI to Joseph E. and Mildred M. (Lawton) Mowery. He was a graduate of Creston High School and furthered his education attending college for two years. Fred was a US Army veteran serving from 1956-1960 . On August 5, 1961, in Grand Rapids, he married the former Doris Ann Shafer, celebrating 60 years of marriage. He was employed as the facilities maintenance manager for SYSCO-Grand Rapids, until his retirement in 1999.
Frederick was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, where he had taught Sunday School. He was also a member of the Rockford Masonic Lodge #246 F. & A.M. and the Shriners. Frederick was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed bowling having bowled a 300 game and was the representative for the Senior USBC Championship in Reno, NV. An accomplished golfer, Fred enjoyed the game and had scored a hole in one. Always interested in helping with his children's school projects, he was a boy scout leader and helped Scott obtain his Eagle Scout Award. Frederick was also a certified auto mechanic and owned and operated Alpine Sportsmen Center.
Frederick is survived by his wife Doris; their children, Scott (Leslie) Mowery, Tracy (Michael) Rogers, Beth Ann Salisbury, Cynthia (John) Bazaire, Denise (John) Pohl; seventeen grandchildren, Kirk, Kalin, Melanie, Evan, Lindsey, Danielle, Austin, Andrew, Blake, Kyle, Brittany, Emily, Brayden, Alicia, Jackson, Cameron, Gavin; twenty-one great grandchildren; brother, Robert Mowery; sisters, Sandra Voss, Coralee (Perry) Hamilton, Kate (Chris) Malec, Kathy Berosik; He was preceded in death by his parents and his step father, Samuel E. Voss.
The private funeral service for Mr. Mowery will be held Friday, December 17, 2021, from the Zion Lutheran Church, with Pastor Julie Schneider-Thomas officiating.
Friends may greet the family on Thursday, December 16, 2021, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Ave., NW, Comstock Park, MI 49321.
Memorial contributions in Frederick's memory may be given to American Heart Association, 3940 Peninsular Dr., SE, #180, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 or to Shriners Children's Hospital, 2211 N. Oak Park Ave., Chicago, IL 60707.
