WAHLFIELD, Frederick "Fritz" W. Wahlfield Sr., age 83, of Comstock Park, was peacefully called to heaven after a short battle with cancer surrounded by his family. He has joined the love of his life, his sweetheart, wife, "Peanut". Fritz Sr. was an admirable, generous and a hard-working husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was also called Grandpa, Papa & Popeye. Fritz is proceeded in death by his wife, Marlene R. (Brown) Wahlfield; parents, Carl and Ruth Wahlfield; siblings and in-laws, Margaret (Duane) Waters, Donald (Theresa) Wahlfield and Phyllis (Joe) Dunneback. He is survived by his children and grandchildren, Nancy (Phillip) Vogel, Sarah (Kelly) Anderson, Stacy (Tony) Carosa, Sondra Vogel; Shelly Wahlfield; Fritz Jr. (Liz) Wahlfield, Fritz III (Addie) Wahlfield, Bryan (Bethany) Wahlfield, Katelynn (Dan) Rettig; Julie Wahlfield, Erica (Brad) Straayer; Joe (Jeanne) Wahlfield, Brieanna and Darren Wahlfield; his seven great-grandchildren, Ella, Evan, and Ethan Anderson, Otto and Emmett Wahlfield, Lillian and Paxton Straayer. Brother, Jim (Jeanette) Wahlfield; sister-in-law, Dolora (Carl) Burns; brothers-in-law, Jim (Gerrie) Brown and Ray Rau; many nieces, nephews and cousins. His family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. David Henderson and Dr. Megan Yee, and the clinical staff at Mercy Health. Fritz Sr. graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1951. In 1954, Fritz Sr. and wife, Marlene, established the "Fritz Wahlfield Construction Company" together where he devoted 54 years. He served in the National Guards with the 126th Infantry for six years and sixteen years with the Alpine Township Fire Department as a volunteer. Fritz Sr. was an elected Kent County Commissioner for 34 years and sat on the Pension Board, Road Commission Board and Fire Commission Board. He also served as a community member of the Kent County Road Commission Board for three years. Fritz Sr. and Marlene shared the love of "Parks" and jointly donated the property for the Kent County "Wahlfield Park" located in Alpine Township. Fritz Sr. enjoyed spending time with family, his roses, feeding the squirrels, traveling, playing cards, puzzles, fishing and riding in parades with his "Peanut" in their red caddy. The Wahlfield family will receive family and friends at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue N.W., Comstock Park, MI on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m., and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., the Rosary will be lead by Deacon Jerry Roersma at 8:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be con-celebrated by nephew, Rev. Father Charles Brown, Rev. Father Thomas Simons and Rev. Father Dick Host will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation one hour prior to the ceremony at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1200 Alpine Church Road, Comstock Park, MI. Interment will follow the service in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, with under the auspice of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard.
