Gary Earl Rauser, age 80, of Alpine Township, entered into eternal rest with his family by his side on Thursday, July 6, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo; parents, Donald and Florence Rauser; sisters-in-law, Beverly Alt, Pat Alt and Carole Alt; brothers-in-law, Fred Erhards and Mike Alt. Gary will be lovingly remembered by his children, Amy (Michael) Pischner , Jeff (Jennifer) Rauser, Todd (Kerri) Rauser; grandchildren, Krista (Dustin) Coon, Nicole Pischner, Kelsey Pischner, Jonathon Pischner, Anna Rauser, Justin Rauser, Hayley Rauser, Jordyn Rauser; great grandsons, Lee and Luke Coon; siblings, Judy (Roger) Abbott and Barb Erhards; in-laws, Tom (Beth) Alt, Joe Jr. (Dorothy) Alt, Dave Alt, Dan (Beth) Alt, Marcia (Bob) Spruit and Cindy (Mike) Hoogewind; many nieces and nephews. Gary's caring spirit and generous heart could be felt by anyone he came in contact with. He had a special gift of not only seeing the good in people, but also bringing out the best in them as well. He served in the United States Navy, and Reserves, and upon his discharge he met and married his wife, Mary Jo (Alt) and raised a family (Amy, Jeff & Todd). He enjoyed his career as a pattern maker, working with his father for three decades. He would then go on to buy the shop from his father, becoming a proud business owner of Michigan Pattern Works, and continued working an additional 30 years before retirement. His hobbies included golfing, bowling, softball, and pitching horse shoes. He took pride in woodworking, and told a good story, or two, at bonfires. He had a green thumb and would grow vegetables, fruits, plants, and flowers. Gary was an avid hunter and fisherman, and just loved being out in nature. He had a love for all animals. Gary had a remarkable ability to connect with people, and will be missed by everyone who got the chance to know him. Gary was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where he and Mary Jo were married, January 1968, and celebrated 52 years of marriage before her passing in 2020. A joint Memorial Mass for Gary and Mary Jo will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1200 Alpine Church Rd, Comstock Park with one hour visitation prior to the service at the church.
