WIERS - Gary L. Wiers, age 64, of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 22, 2019. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary II; father, Cornelius Wiers; brothers, Larry, Dan, and Steven; sister, Sandra Bailey and niece, Alicia Wiers. He is survived by his son, Steven (Kelly) Wiers; grandson, Johnathan Wiers of Florida; daughter, Kaci Wiers of South Lyon MI; mother, Clarice Wiers; siblings, Ed (Gayle) Wiers, Jim (Jill) Wiers, Sue (Greg) Matteson and Jean (Steve) Idema; several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and friends. Gary was the owner of Green Thumb Lawn Care and also traveled the country as a semi driver. He had a passion for classic cars. Gary could be found fishing the banks of the Grand River in his free time and was a fan of the Detroit Lions and Detroit Pistons. Gary will forever be in our hearts and lovingly remembered as "Poppa with the Mack Truck" by his grandson, Jonathon. There will be a celebration of Gary's life on May 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Jenison Bible Church. The family will greet family and friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Inurnment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Grandville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution to American Heart Association or Salvation Army is greatly appreciated.
