BAKER - Gene R. Baker, age 71, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Muskegon, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 14, 2013. Gene is survived by his loving wife, Janice, beloved children, Gene Jr. (Janie), Emmett (Linda), Steven (Karri), Shannon Acton, Shawn Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Dusty (Kerri) Johnson, eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, brothers, Gordon (Joyce) Baker, Robert (Darla) Baker, sisters, Bonnie (Lloyd) Beardsley, Judy, sister in-law, Catherine Baker, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris, brother, Harry John Baker. Gene was born in Sparta and served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Gene enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working on cars. The family will receive visitors at the Beuschel Funeral Home 5018 Alpine Avenue Comstock Park on Sunday, February 17 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The celebration of Gene's life will be offered at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, February 18, with visitation one hour prior, at the Beuschel Funeral Home, with Pastor Patrick Jackson as celebrant from Emmanuel Baptist Church. Interment will be on Wednesday, at 10:00a.m. February 20, 2013 at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek.
