Genevieve Ann (Opolski) McKian, age 94, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. In a poignant reflection of the deep bond she shared with her husband of 68 years, Genevieve passed on the same calendar day as he did, five years later.

Born on October 19, 1931, in Grand Rapids, MI, Genevieve lived a long and meaningful life marked by kindness, resilience, and unwavering dedication to those she loved. She was a devoted wife, a loving presence within her family, and a source of wisdom. Her life was defined by caring for others and placing the needs of family before her own. She will be remembered for her love of others and her faith in the Lord.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, Frank McKian; sons, Michael (Maria) and Thomas; granddaughter, Amanda Steffes; son-in-law, Gary Castor; parents, Bernard and Antoinette Opolski; brother, Edward Opolski; sister, Marcella Majewski.

Genevieve is survived by her children, Sue Castor, Kathy (Jim) Steffes, Patrick McKian; 10 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

Visitation will take place Friday, January 9, 2026, from 10:00am until 11:00am, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 520 Myrtle Street NW, Grand Rapids, with the Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 11:00am with Msgr. R. Louis Stasker officiating.  Lunch will follow at St. George Peter & Paul Aid.
