WOLLMARTZ - Harry Theodore "Ted" (Bear) Wollmartz, age 69, of Sparta died on Tuesday, December 26, 2017. Ted was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Gerald and H. Louise Wollmartz on September 1, 1948. He was a 1966 graduate of Sparta High School, later serving as a medic in the 14th Combat Engineers Battalion in Vietnam, and was a longtime member and officer of the Sparta Eagles. Ted is survived by his daughters, Anji (Marc) Britten of Hammond, Indiana and Maggie (Mike) Slabbekoorn-Kreger of Rockford; grandchildren, Lily and Isabelle Slabbekoorn and Braden and Willow Kreger; sisters, Elizabeth (Roger) Christensen and Karen (Steve) Opperman; the Road Weasels, 7 Mile Club, and special family friend, Pearl Westen. An informal celebration of Ted's life will be held at the Sparta Eagles, 186 East Division, Sparta, on Friday, December 29, 2017 from noon to 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Ted's honor to the Eagles Memorial Forest Fund, to which Ted donated countless hours.
