SWARTZ - Helen Swartz, age 76, of Grand Rapids, and Avondale, Arizona went to be with Jesus Christ, with her family at her side on Monday, August 2, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Jim Swartz. Helen is survived by her loving children, Stephen Jr. Grooters, Jeffery (Kimberly) Grooters, Randell (Holly) Grooters, and Richard Grooters; grandchildren, Tristan (Jessika) Grooters, Justin (Michelle) Grooters, Tarra Grooters, Kaitlynn (Justin) Shoemaker, Jessica Grooters, Kennidi Grooters, Ethan and Gage Heyboer; 9 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Janet Reuss and Susan Latham. Helen was born in Nashville, Tennessee and met the father of her children in Kentucky at Ft. Campbell. After moving to Grand Rapids, Helen devoted herself to raising her boys and went on to own and operate a successful business, 'Unique Fountains' in Arizona. Philanthropy had a special place in Helen and Jim's life. They volunteered at the American Legion Post 61, receiving a distinguished award from the Governor for a program to feed the homeless. The family extends a thank you to Hospice of Michigan, Hospice of the Valley in Arizona, and the staff of Trillium Woods. The family will receive friends and family at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park, on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the service following at 7:00 p.m., Rev.
