PITSCH, HELEN DOREEN - Helen Doreen (Morris) Pitsch, age 87, of Sparta, passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, June 19, 2015. Doreen was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who gifted everyone with her love and support. She was beloved by her grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as "Gramcracker" or "Grandma The Great". Doreen was a woman of great faith and cherished her Irish Catholic descent. She graduated from high school in 1945 from Saint Patrick's in Parnell and continued her education at Aquinas College with an Associates Degree in Business. Doreen worked at and retired from The Grand Rapids Press and the Sparta Area School District. Throughout her life, she loved to make crafts, sew, bake and cook. The family favorites were her crescent rolls, baked beans, potato salad, red velvet cake and homemade pies. In her younger years, she was active in singing and acting in school plays. This love for music, theatre and cooking has become a family legacy carried on in her grandchildren. Doreen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, Clarence; parents, Harry L. and Mary (Byrne) Morris; brother, Harry J. "Junior" (Patricia) Morris; sisters, Eileen Morris, Virginia (Robert) Schmidt, Gwendolyn (Robert) Scheidel, and Betty Lou Lamos. Doreen is survived by her children, William Pitsch, Kimberle (Jim) Johnson, Craig (Brenda) Pitsch, Laureen (Nick) Lewis, daughter-in-law Cynthia Pitsch; grandchildren, Clifford Pitsch, Nicholas Pitsch, Devin Pitsch, Erik Johnson, Ross Johnson, Bretton Johnson, Marie (Zach) Musil and Collin Lewis; great grandchildren, Julian Pitsch and Parker Musil; sister, Barbara (Carl) Einig; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 425 S. State Street, Sparta, with Msgr. Rev. Terrence L. Stewart officiating. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., 1200 Alpine Church Road.
