KNAPP - Herbert "Herb" C. Knapp, age 84, of Comstock Park, went to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 12, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Esther Knapp. Herb is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Klasena (Sena) G. Knapp; daughters, Melissa (Brian) Flynn, Cindy (Dave) Ruhling, and Sandra (Bill) Sciamanna; son, Herbert (Karrie) Knapp; grandchildren; great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Sharon) Knapp and many friends. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Herb was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #47 and past commander, the VFW and Casino Club. He was a certified Hearing Aid Audiologist since 1955. Herb was the third generation of his family to help the hard of hearing; opening his business in Muskegon, soon following his father he opened an office in Grand Rapids. He also was the original member of the International Hearing Society in 1950. Herb held several honors throughout his distinguished career including many "Member of the Year Awards", given to members that go above and beyond their commitment to the International Hearing Society, and to their patients. His commitment to the hard of hearing in West Michigan is well known. The family will receive family and friends at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park on Saturday, April 16 from 9 to 11 a.m., with the memorial service at 11 a.m., at the Beuschel Funeral Home, with Pastor Dale Kleinheksel as celebrant. Inurnment will be held in Alpine Center Cemetery, under the auspice of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard at 11:40 a.m. In memory of Herb, please consider a donation to the Heartland Hospice.
