James “Jim” Lavern Jeffries Jr., age 64, of Coopersville, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at his home on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 after a yearlong battle with cancer.
Jim was born July 21, 1961. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He discovered a love for gardening and canning after his retirement in 2024. He passed down his passion for the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. Jim also enjoyed attending the Wheatland Music festival, having never missed a year until his diagnosis.
Jim worked at Visser Brothers Construction for over 30 years, and never missed an opportunity to tell you what buildings he helped build.
Jim is survived by his wife and best friend of 42 years, Lisa; his children, Jamie Jeffries, Nichole (Jerry) Toogood, Michael (Brianna) Willacker, Joshua (Sara) Jeffries, and Andrea Jeffries; grandchildren, Mason, Ayva, Waylon, Abel, Owyn, and Cedar; father, James (Brenda) Jeffries; sister, Karen Hetzel; brother, John (Kim) Jeffries; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Sally; stepmother, Elaine; and sister, Kelly.
Gathering of family and friends will take place on Wednesday, April 29 from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m.at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue NW, Comstock Park, MI 49321. Visitation will continue on Thursday, April 30 at the funeral home from 10:00a.m. until 11:00a.m. with the memorial service beginning at 11:00a.m.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Hospice of Michigan who helped fulfill Jim’s wish to be at home for his final days with his family.
