Obituary

NEAL - James B. Neal, age 91, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Georgia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Janet L. "Shipley" Neal, baby brother, Herschel Neal; sister, Vilma Neal (Raymond) Crane; and brothers-in-law, Sidney (Rosie) Shipley and John Tulloss. Jim is survived by his children, Theresa Neal, James (Diane) Neal, Judith (Gregory) Momber, Thomas (Mary) Neal; grandchildren, Erin (Jeff) Stein, Ashley (Paul) Pace, Kevin Phelan, Keith (Cyra) Phelan, Kurt (Sydney) Phelan, Elizabeth Neal, James (Clarissa) Neal, Joshua (Ashlee) Momber, Danielle (Michael) Lopez, Miriam (Ben) Googag, Rachael (Aaron) Perry, and Gabriel Momber; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elaine Shipley Smith; and brother-in-law, Phil (Donna) Shipley. Jim was born and raised in Twin City, Georgia. He entered the armed service at age 17, and after a year joined the U.S. Air Force. Jim served his country for 20 years in the Pacific, including Hawaii, Japan, Johnson Island, Phillipines, Korea and Middle East. He worked as a radio operator mechanic before retiring from the military. Jim worked at Keumpel Company and went on to own his own business, Neal-Crane Company. He was a member of the Masonic lodge in Boise, Idaho. Jim was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and wrestling alligators. He was married to the greatest love of his life, Janet. The family will receive friends and family at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Ave., Comstock Park on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Beuschel Funeral Home, with Fr. Thomas Simons presiding, and under the auspices of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be in Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Twin City, Georgia.
