PAAS - James Nicholas Paas, Sr., age 89, of Comstock Park, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, November 2, 2021. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Rita E. Paas; parents, Nicholas and Bernice Paas; grandson, Michael Bevins Jr.; brother, Ed (Lois) Paas; sister-in-law, Gloria Paas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard (Mary) Obetts, Carl Obetts, Ray (Char) Obetts, Ed Obetts. Jim is survived by his children, Jeanne (Michael) Bevins, Elizabeth (Larry) Annable, James Jr. (Valerie) Paas, Julie Paas (Gary Vachon), Denise (Mark) Curtis, Mary (Ron) DeRade and Daniel (Jennifer) Paas; grandchildren, Abby (Matt) Pepper, Nicholas (Jill) Annable, Karl Annable, Tracy (Andy) Huizinga, Jennifer (Joe) Petack, Emily (Matt) Karas, Sarah Huber, Eric (Justine) Curtis; Andrew (Merrian) Curtis, Kelsey Curtis, James (Kara) DeRade, Hillary (Brandon) Zahrt, Daniel Paas, and Elizabeth Paas; great-grandchildren, Corwin Pepper, Jacob Pepper, Katharine Pepper, Wyatt Pepper, Lauren Annable, Bradley Annable, Peyton Petack, Reese Petack, Owen Petack, Kennedy Karas, Giuliana Curtis, Anthony Curtis, Aidan Curtis, Ella Curtis, Annie DeRade and Collins Zahrt; brother, Nick Paas and sister, Barb (Larry) Rector; in-laws, Phil (Jackie) Obetts, Barbara Obetts, Arlene Obetts; many nieces and nephews. Jim was a proud graduate of Catholic Central High School Class of 1949. He served his country in the US Marines and retired from Michigan Consolidated Gas Company after 42 years of service and was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where he ushered for many years. Jim enjoyed Word Search and Crossword Puzzles and was a fan of Norte Dame Football. When asked who he wanted to win the MSU/Michigan game, he replied "Notre Dame"! The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Beuschel Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1200 Alpine Church Rd., Comstock Park on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, with Father Thomas Simons officiating.
