IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jean Carol
Hullinger
December 17, 1949 – February 26, 2025
Jean Carol Hullinger (a.k.a. Jeannie/Jennifer), passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Jean was born December 17, 1949, in Iowa and made Grand Rapids, MI her home. Jeannie made it to 75 years young, despite odds the doctors gave her. Jeannie followed her mom's footsteps and became a teacher. Jeannie not only went to school to become a teacher; teaching was in her SOUL. She did so every day for 75 years. Many, many years after having taught at South Middle High School (now Job Corp at the corner of Hall and Jefferson in Grand Rapids, Michigan). With every phone call, conversation, letter and magazine clipping sent, she was teaching SOMETHING. Sharing knowledge, uplifting and encouraging words with every card and letter. A characteristic of a great teacher!
The love for four-legged creatures was unmeasurable. Dogs (Dobermans especially) and cats were her true loves. And anyone with either, became a quick friend. The owner too, but mostly the pet. She cared for all four-legged souls that wandered up her driveway. The two-legged souls were not forgotten and always welcome as well. Many chairs, inside and out, waited for those stopping to visit. The other loves in Jeannie's life included cooking, sharing what she cooked, music and dancing. Oh, she LOVED music. Just give her a reason to do either or both and she was there!! Jeannie embraced and LOVED life and everything that went with it. Even the struggles that accompanied. Her Faith in the Lord and leaning on Him, ensured she would make it through anything and everything. And every time, He pulled her through!! And she gave Praise!!
Jeannie is preceded in life by Barbara (Bunny) and Lyle Hullinger (mom and dad); way too many good friends and sooo many loved fur-babies. Jeannie leaves behind two brothers, Mark Hullinger and another; Stacy, who she thought of as her 'daughter', 3 'grandchildren' (Leon, Ruby and Sarah) and 3 'great-grandchildren' (Aiden, Myiah and Kiya) and a several fur-babies (Mr. Tank, Chandler, Moochie, Ganghi, Theora, Binky, Bear and Boomer).
Jeannie touched so many lives with her words and her presence and will forever be missed. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to her long-loved charities: C-Snip, Kent County Animal Shelter, or the Humane Society of West Michigan.
She will be missed, always loved and ALWAYS remembered.
