Obituary

BURNS - John Burns, age 82, of Walker, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 13, 2017. John was born in Morgantown, West Virginia to his parents, Pauline and Frank Burns. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna of 37 ½ years; his children, Linda (Michael) Kirk of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Brenda (Garry) Haisma of Comstock Park, Karen (David) Westerhof of Grand Rapids, Steve (Judy) Burns of Grandville, Barb (Jeff) Huvaere of Hudsonville, step-son, Randall Bates of Caledonia, and step-daughter Cheryl Glazier of Traverse City; ten grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and eight step-great-grandchildren; brother, David (Marianne) Burns of Leesburg, Florida; several brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins; and the mother of his children, Doris Marr of South Haven. He was employed by Light Metals in Grandville. John was an avid hunter and fisherman. His hobbies included buying used cars to fix up and resell, as well as garage sales. "Grandpa John-Gramps" loved the company of his family, and treasured family dinners most of all. The family will receive family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be offered on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior at Richmond Reformed Church, 1814 Walker Avenue, Grand Rapids with celebrant Pastor George Werkema and Pastor Dave Mckellar officiating. Interment will follow at Rosedale Memorial Park Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. In memory of John please consider a donation to Spectrum Hospice or American Diabetes Association or Alzheimer's Association.
