THOWSON - John A. Thowson, age 81, of Comstock Park, (formerly of California) went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 27, 2016. John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jerry and Billy Thowson. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Joyce Thowson; children, David and Sue Chesney, Laura and Jack Ottenwess; grandchildren, Dr.'s Jason and Kim Chesney, David and Meghan Ottenwess; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Alexandria and Connor Chesney. John served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years and retired from the Grand Rapids Post Office. He was a member of the American Legion #28 in Grand Haven. John enjoyed playing golf in his spare time. The family will receive family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park on Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Celebration of John's life will be offered on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 11:30 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the memorial service at the Beuschel Funeral Home, with Rev. Father Mark Przybysz officiating of Saint Anthony of Pauda Parish and under the auspice of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard.
