GIEM - Kathy Linn Giem, age 57, of Sand Lake, went peacefully to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 12, 2018 after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. Kathy was born in Grand Rapids on October 2, 1960. She graduated from Jenison High School and continued on to receive a certificate in Medical Coding and Billing from Davenport University. Kathy was married to Bryan Giem on May 14, 2005. They shared many happy memories together including swimming and boating on Sand Lake and in Fort Myers, Florida. Music was her passion, as evidenced by her joyful smile every time she sang in her church's worship team. Kathy will be missed by many, but especially by Bryan and her children; Jana (Ryan) Brotherton, Holli McNulty, Kailee Giem, and Kyler Giem. She is also survived by her mother, Barb Flory; sister, Karen (Mark) VanHoven; brother Mike Flory; grandchildren, Grayson Brotherton, Kinsley Brotherton, Ella McNulty; several nieces and nephews and countless other family and friends. Her grandchildren held a special place in Kathy's heart and brought a smile to her face. Kathy is preceded in death by her father, Robert Flory. The family will receive family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Service of Praise and Thanksgiving of Kathy's life will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 9:30 a.m., prior to the Service at Sparta Baptist Church, 38 S. State St. NW, Sparta, with Rev. Nate Wagner and Rev. Ben Taylor as celebrants.
