BERRY-Larry Lee Berry, age 61, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022. He was born in Grand Rapids on April 4, 1959 to LeRoy and Sandra Jean (Hoyt) Berry. Larry grew up on the northeast side of town and went to school there. During the summer months, he caddied at the Kent Country Club, where he watched and learned how to play the game of golf. He also bowled in the junior leagues, where he excelled into his adult years. After moving to Kenowa Hills, he was on the golf team, where he could expose his expertise around the links. In later years, Larry enjoyed being on the golf course with his friend for life Pauly. The fun and tales of both of them are legendary. He was not perfect, but loved everyone. Larry played little league baseball and was had pitched a no-hitter game. He worked at Westgate Bowling Center for a number of years for Charlie Jackman. Many tales from the bowling alley, unfortunately can not be re-told. Larry sold mortgages for a short time, but then found his true calling in life, being a car salesman. He was employed at Finish Line Auto Sales, on Alpine Avenue. Larry was a great friend and loved to have fun and was kind hearted. Larry is survived by his daughter, Amanda; mother, Sandra (Dick) Benham; brother Kevin; step-brother mark; step-sisters, Gail and Gwen; uncles, Jerry DeRivera, Steve (Pam) DeRivera, Manny (Cook) DeRivera; aunt, Maria (Bob) Caparus. He is also survived by his not to be forgotten best friends, Paul Dennie and Mike Miller. Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Chico and Gladys DeRivera, Delbert Hoyt and Marie Burnett. He was also preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Berry. In keeping with Larry's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. A celebration of Larry's life will be announced at a later date. Rest in peace, soldier.
