VANDERZAND - Larry J. VanderZand, age 82, of Comstock Park, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He is preceded in death by his brother, Roger VanderZand; grandson, Alex Penny, and great-grandson, Jacob Rowe. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Nancy; daughters, Deborah (Greg) Longstreet, Donna Penny, and Diane "Dee" (Brian) Smith; brothers, Ronald VanderZand and James VanderZand; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Larry was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on August 15, 1938 the oldest son of John and Marion VanderZand. He was a graduate of Creston High School Class of 1956. Larry began his working career in ing. After several years, Larry took an apprenticeship in the tool and die trade at Auto Die Corp and remained in the die trade until his retirement. In later years, Larry and Nancy spent six months of the year in Florida, where they enjoyed the community of Sweetwater. The family will receive family and friends at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park, on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Celebration of Larry's life will follow at 7:00 p.m., at the Beuschel Funeral Home.
