Lionel Lavern Mann Jr., age 88, of Grand Rapids, went home to be with his Savior peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Lionel loved to tinker and fix things. He also loved fishing and music, playing many different instruments. He worked many years at McInerny Spring and Wire and later retired from Benteler Automotive. Most of all, he loved the Lord and spending time with his family, singing together in his beautiful tenor voice. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor; son, Lionel Jr. II; parents; brothers, Orville, Thomas, and James; sister, Betty Miller. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Patricia and Patrick Cole, Barb and Roy Hudson, Sandra Tripp and Herb Richardson, and Carol and Mark Condon, Kimberly and Jim Hooker, Karen Thomas; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lea Mann, Carol Mann, Nita Holmes, Cheryl McElhaney; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1000 Aberdeen St. NE, Grand Rapids, with Pastor P.J. Pallini officiating. Burial will be held at Rosedale Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to his church.
