SCHANER - Lynn Marie (McFall) Schaner, of Sparta, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016 losing her battle with Frontal Lobe Dementia. A 3rd Grade teacher in Sparta for 36 years, teaching over 1,000 students; many students went on to become teachers and credited Lynn as their inspiration. She was one of a few to receive a Distinguished Educator Pillar Award in Sparta; sharing the award with former student and colleague, Shelly Murdock. In retirement Lynn led Sparta ACS Relay for Life. Her leadership, organization and inspiration helped raise over one million dollars over a seven year period. Lynn was also a volunteer at Hope Lodge and was an ACS driver, driving patients to their cancer treatments. She was a survivor of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Lynn is survived by her husband of 17 years, Robert M. Schaner; mother, Shirley McFall; brother, Lee (Maribeth) McFall; nephew, Paul McFall; niece, Lauren McFall; aunt, Mary Jean Chorman-Herwaldt; stepsons, Michael Schaner and Patrick (Toni) Schaner; grandchildren, Ryan and Kaylee Schaner; and many other special family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, H. Paul McFall. A special thank you to the caring staff at Meadowlark Retirement Village and Emmanuel Hospice. The family will receive family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Lynn's life will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior at Sparta United Methodist Church, with Pastor Lou Grettenberger officiating.
