VAN HOUTUM - Mable Beatrice "Bea" Van Houtum, age 95, of Sparta, went into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 21, 2017. Bea was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, John R. Van Houtum; infant son, John Richard; and brother, Edwin Boe. Bea is survived by her children, Marilynn (Bruce) Bitely and Craig (Joyce) Van Houtum; grandchildren, Amie (Rich) Temperle, Andy (Nicole) Bitely, Erik (Adrianna) Bitely, Julie (Délano) Daughty, Connie (Nick) Wood, Jenny (Jon) Noto, Jon (Kristen) Van Houtum, and Joe (Johanna) Van Houtum, nineteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Micele, and many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. Bea was born in Mobile, Alabama, and was a graduate of Union High School in Grand Rapids. Bea will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed helping and caring for her beloved family and friends. The family will receive family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Please join the Van Houtum family for a celebration of Bea's life at the Sparta United Methodist Church on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service, with Pastor Lou Grettenburger as celebrant.
