Obituary

THOME - Our angel has left us. Marcella (Sally) J. Thome (Farrell), age 85, of Sparta, went to her Lord and Savior, surrounded by family, on Sunday, July 19, 2015. Sally was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Ward, Mary Downes Blom and Helen Jakeway. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Richard (Dick) F. Thome, of Sparta; son, Richard T. Thome of Easton, Pennsylvania; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Jennifer Thome, of Avon, Indiana; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and William Middelaer, of Simsbury, Connecticut; grandchildren, Nicholas and Kaylyn Thome; sister, Edith Shiels; brother, Patrick Farrell; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Sally was born in Grand Rapids and grew up in Parnell. After graduating from St. Patrick's High School, she continued her education at Mercy Central School of Nursing at Saint Mary's. Sally was a Registered Nurse and specialized in industrial nursing. Sally was a wonderful mother. She loved cooking for her family, enjoyed family gatherings and traveled extensively with her husband and friends. Sally's family will greet family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park, on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with the Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Holy Family Catholic Church, 425 South State Street, Sparta, with Msgr. Terrence L. Stewart officiating, on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior at the church. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. In Sally's memory, please consider donations to Lemmen Holton Cancer Pavilion or Emmanuel Hospice.
