VANDER LAAN - Marvin Vander Laan, age 78, of Grand Rapids, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 6, 2019. Marvin was preceded in death by his father, Jacob Vander Laan; mother, Mary Uthiol Smith; daughter, Jill; granddaughter, Tabetha; great-granddaughter, Emily; and stepmother Sophie Vander Laan. Marvin is survived by his sweetheart, Josie Wall; his beloved children, Barbara (Dale) Draper, Brenda Vander Laan and Lori (Dan) Wilson, whom he shared with his former wife, Kaye Cone; his grandchildren, Randi, Sarah, Rebecca, Megan, Daniel, Sabrina and Layne; seven great grandchildren; and his sisters, step-sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews. Marvin enjoyed country music, socializing at bingo and singing hymns, especially his favorite, "Because He Lives." Marvin was a sentimental man with a great sense of humor. He always had a joke or funny story to tell. The family will receive visitors at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. for a memorial gathering.
