Marvin Joseph Thome, age 88, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; brother, Carl Thome; son-in-law, Robert Wetherbee; brother-in-law, Walter Longcore; sister-in-law, Lois Thome. Marvin is survived by his children, Laura Wetherbee, Thomas (Suzi) Thome, Mike Thome, Patty (Gerrit) Elzinga; grandchildren, Rob, Brett, and Brian Wetherbee, Samantha and Summer Thome, Shania and Mason Thome, Gerrit, Jessie, Bailey, and Evan Elzinga; great grandchildren, Cooper, Monroe, Kannon, Marlee, and Charlee Harrington; brother, Robert Thome; sister, Clara Longcore. Marvin was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was in the National Guard Reserves and a member of the American Legion Post 47, and a part of their bowling league. Marvin was an avid golfer who taught his kids how to golf at home. He considered himself a garden master and was a sports enthusiast, loving his football. Marvin also enjoyed traveling, Hawaii being one of his favorite places that he visited several times. The family would like to thank St. Mary's-Trinity Health and Edison Christian Assisted Living staff for their wonderful and compassionate care. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 11:30 am at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Ave NW, Comstock Park, MI. The family will receive visitors on Friday, January 26 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, where the rosary will be prayed starting at 7:00 pm. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the memorial service on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 am.
