WIERSMA - Marvin J. Wiersma, age 87, of Sparta and Paradise, Michigan, went into the arms of Jesus Christ, with his family by his side, on Monday, April 17, 2017. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Etta; brothers, Delton (Nancy), Gordon and Glenn. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruby; sons, Wes (Carol) and Warren (Deborah) Wiersma; daughter, Cynthia (Walter) Sprenger; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce (Milton) Ruster; sisters-in-law, Betina Wiersma and Janet Wiersma; brother-in-law, Roger Bystra and many nieces and nephews. Marvin enjoyed hunting, fishing and just sitting watching waves on White Fish Bay at his home in Paradise. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1957. Marvin was employed and retired from Sparta Sheet Metal after 30 years. The family will receive family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 3:00 - 5:00 P.M., and 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. The Celebration of Marvin's life will be offered on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11:00 A.M., with visitation one hour prior, with Pastor Vern VanderWerff, and under the auspice of the Kent County Honor Guard, at Remembrance Church, 4575 Remembrance Road, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
