THELEN- Mary Jane Thelen, age 93, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother entered into eternal rest on March 12, 2020. She was born on July 20, 1926 in Pewamo, the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth (Schmitt) Harr. Mary Jane was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westphalia and the Christian Mothers and Women's Guild. Mary Jane and Paul raised their six children on the farm together and in later years, enjoyed traveling, including spending winters in Arizona. Mary Jane's greatest joy was her family, whom she blessed with her gentle kindness and her prayerful faith. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Paul; daughter, Jean Kennicott; brothers, James Harr, Roy Harr, and Donald Harr; sisters, Sr. Romilda of the Racine Dominican Sisters and Genevieve Thelen. Mary Jane is survived by her children, David (Theresa) Thelen of Westphalia, Ruth (Joseph) Heckman of Westphalia, Judy (Michael) Baker of Lansing, Daniel (Hope) Thelen of DeWitt and Terry (Julie) Thelen of Williamston; son-in-law, James Kennicott of Eaton Rapids; grandchildren, Scott (Tracy) Thelen, Shelley (George) Lahanas, Jarrod (Tara) Thelen, Erin (Brent) Beuschel, Sara Heckman, Craig (Haley) Heckman, Angela Baker, Amanda (Rob) Lemein, Christian Baker, Paul Thelen, Maria Thelen and Cris Atkinson; 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank their many caregivers for their love and compassionate care. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Eric Weber at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2020 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 15 at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia St., Westphalia. The rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of thank you notes, memorial contributions will be made to charities supported by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Beuschel Funeral Home.
