Mary Elaine (Barnes) Reed, 65, beloved daughter of John and Shirley Barnes, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in the home where she lived, with her husband Brent, for 17 years.

Mary graduated from Kenowa Hills High School in 1979 and worked in health-care settings most of her adult life, from the front desk of a pediatrics office to Xanitos, a hospital environmental services firm.

Mary was gifted with a bursting laugh and an Irish soul. She loved Old Mission Peninsula, the homestead on the bay, cows, live music and oh, how she loved her cousins.

Mary decorated her home with reflections of joy and optimism. She bore a stitched message on the soles of her socks.

“The happiest time of life is now.”

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Brent Reed, parents John and Shirley Barnes, and her brother, Patrick. She is survived by siblings John and Julie, Steve and Tammie, Thomas Barnes, and many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, cousins and friends.

Cremation has taken place and service details are currently pending.
