Merlin Joseph Westrick, age 88, of Walker, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 3, 2025. He was born on January 4, 1937 to Ambrose and Mildred (Fasbender) Westrick. Merlin is survived by his beloved daughter, Elizabeth Ann Westrick, who he took care of, then in turn she helped take care of him at the end; sister-in-law, Jane Calahan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Sarah Ann Westrick; parents, Ambrose and Mildred Westrick; brother, Eldon Westrick; and sister, Evelyn Krause. Merlin grew up on a small farm in Cadillac, MI. He and his brother enjoyed playing softball together. As an adult, Merlin joined the Holy Trinity Catholic Church men's softball team, which he participated on for many years including last summer. Merlin was a long-time parishioner and usher at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd degree. In his spare time, Merlin liked cutting, stacking, and selling wood. He also enjoyed small game hunting, especially squirrels. Merlin worked at Napa Distribution Center for 15 years, as well as Chase Bank and ADP. In 2013 he started working for Beuschel Funeral Home, where he enjoyed working alongside Brent, doing many different jobs. Most visitors to the funeral home enjoyed having Merlin greet them at the door. Merlin loved his vanilla ice cream, along with cookies. Mass of the Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, March 11, 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1200 Alpine Church Rd, Comstock Park, MI. Interment Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Friends and relatives may meet the family at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Ave NW, Comstock Park, MI on Monday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, where a rosary will be prayed starting at 8:00 pm along with memories. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the Mass starting at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
