MARTINEZ-Meta Ann Martinez, 76, of Kent City, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 28, 2021. She was born in Lansing, Michigan, on December 21, 1945, to Walter H. and Meta J. (Castles) Taylor. Meta was married to Joseph M. "Joe" Martinez and he preceded her in death on May 18, 2014. Meta was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Sparta. She will be remembered as a loving, generous, creative and humorous person. She was an avid reader and she enjoyed drawing, painting, writing and gardening. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Meta is survived by her children Christine T. (David) Wernette, Jose V. (Nikki) Martinez, and Nicholas M. Martinez; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Mavric, Evan, Mia, and Zoe; two great- grandchildren, Myles and Brayden. She is also survived by her brother, Ross Taylor; many cousins, nephews and nieces. The Mass of the Christian Burial for Meta will be offered on Monday, January 3, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Msgr. Terrance L. Stewart presiding. Visitation will be held Monday, January 3, 2022, one hour prior to the Mass from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 425 S. State St., Sparta, MI 49345.
