Obituary

DEBOLT - Michael Boyd DeBolt (Big Mike), age 50, of Grand Rapids, Michigan went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 after battling colon cancer for over two years. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mildred DeBolt; and brother Marc DeBolt. Mike is survived by his wife, Cinda of 26 years plus, their beloved children, Michael (Andrea) DeBolt and Mariann (Aaron) Garza; precious grandchildren, Rylee, Ayla and a third granddaughter expected any day. Also surviving, Mike's brother, Scott DeBolt; many wonderful relatives, close family friends, especially Brad Engberg, his best buddy (Go Blue!). Mike was born in Midland, MI., raised in Rose City, MI., and came to Grand Rapids to earn his degree at Calvin College. He dedicated his entire adult life at St. John's Home as a direct care youth counselor where he changed the lives of many children. Family and friends will miss Mike's humor and big laugh, his unwavering support, and those giant bear hugs. It is comforting to know that Mike is at peace in heaven with a new body and a renewed spirit. No more pain, no more suffering. After so many years of God working through Mike, we can only imagine that His first words were "Welcome home, my son." Mike's family welcomes you to a celebration of his life as follows. The family will receive visitors at the Beuschel Funeral Home 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. The Memorial Service will be offered on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 12:30 p.m., with visitation one hour prior at Chapel Pointe Church 3350 Baldwin Street Hudsonville 49426 with Pastor Rick Koole, as celebrant. A celebration luncheon will be immediately following the memorial service at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1140 Muskegon Ave., N.W. 49504. In honor of Mike, please consider making a memorial contribution to benefit the educational enrichment of the children at St. John's Home, whom he loved dearly. Contributions may be accepted through the Beuschel Home or sent directly to Mr. Mike's Educational Fund, 2355 Knapp Street N.E., Grand Rapids, MI. 49505.
